Hi! My name is Megan and I’ve been recording my own story with pictures for over seven years. I started StoryThread Photography because I believe that photos are the threads that tie our story together. Everyone has their own epic journey to write, to document, and to pass on. Each picture taken is a thousand words of your story. Every time you go through your photos you get to relive that moment all over again; the smell of that double dark chocolate peppermint latte last Christmas, or the look in his eyes when he asked you to marry him.
I have always had a creative personality, it began with my fashion sense when I was a little girl. I wouldn’t say that I had good fashion sense but it was definitely creative! Through the years I explored creative outlets such as art, fashion, interior decorating, crafts etc. though the art that resonated with me most was photography. My passion started with modeling, I had to learn how to position myself and act in front of a camera (this would later help me in directing the models I photograph). After modeling for a while I found myself helping the photographer more than actually modeling so I decided to try it out myself. I started out taking pictures with my iPhone which would often turn out better than a real camera. I became very familiar with a lot of editing software’s, both on phones and computers. After doing a few maternity shoots and boudoir shoots with my phone I took the plunge to invest in a nice camera. I am now able to match the quality of my talent and creativity with the quality of the picture.
I enjoy the big milestones of life such as graduations and weddings, but I truly cherish those ‘everyday moments’ that only happen once in a lifetime. Capturing your last weekend as a couple before your new family member arrives, taking fun pre-or-post wedding photos that are fun, romantic, memorable and most importantly you, or capturing the look on your mother’s face at her 50th surprise party. It’s these seemingly little snidbits of life so often swept aside by the hype of the ‘big day’ (and deserve so much more than a selfie) that I am enchanted and impassioned by. These are the gentle, fleeting moments of life that you can look back on and . . . . remember when.
Also, Taylor Swift is my doppelgänger and if you have a famous doppelgänger out there then you know what I’m talking about when I say it’s flattering, sometimes inconvenient, but ultimately . . . fun! I had such a great time mirroring some of her famous poses and forever encapsulating my ‘T-Swift’ stage of life. Hey, if you’re getting stopped regularly you might as well embrace it and go all out. Have a good time with it! You never know, maybe your doppelgänger needs a body double in their next big-time movie or the dream – you’ll be brought on the Ellen DeGeneres Show as a famousdoppelgänger. Let this charasmatic photoshoot open the door to the impossible!
I wanted to do something I’m passionate about, something that makes a difference in people’s lives, and that I’m good at . . . and I found it! It was important to me to keep it simple and authentic, so my shoots are laid-back, fun and you’ll feel comfortable in front of the camera in no time! I look forward to meeting you and helping you to create the perfect stitch in your story! Oh, and if you’re Kevin Costner’s, 26-year old, doppelgänger, let’s talk!
